LIFE- spoken word (GushuEdwin)

Life is crazy, and totally unpredictable...
It's going to push you over,
kick you down
and hit you when you try to
get back up.
Not everythin can beat you.
But you get to choose which
ones you let change you.
Listen to your heart,
 follow your dreams,
And let no one tell you what
 you are capable of.
Push the limits,
 Bend the rules,
And enjoy evry minute of it.
Laugh at everything,
Live for as long as you can.
Love all,
 But trust no one.
Believe in yourself,
And never lose faith in others
Settle for nothing but only the
best,
And give 110% in everything you do.
Take risks,
Live on the edge,
 Yet stay safe,
And cherish every moment of
 it.
Life is a gift,
Appreciate all rewards,
And jump on every opportunity.
Not evryone's going to love
 you
 But who needs them anyway.
Challange everything,
And fight for what you believe.
Back down for nothing,
but give in to the little things in life,
After all, that is what makes you.
NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM,
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER WHERE YOU ARE GOING.

Earth will soon get a visit from not one asteroid, but two. The first radar images of asteroid 1998 QE2 have revealed that the incoming space rock has an unexpected companion – a small moon that may be the key to unlocking the asteroid's secrets.
Astronomers have been tracking the larger asteroid since it was discovered in 1998. Calculations of its orbit around the sun show that it will swing about 5.8 million kilometres from our home planet, or about 15 times the distance between Earth and the moon, at 2059 U.T.C (2159 British Summer Time, 1659 Eastern Standard Time) on 31May.
There is no risk of an impact, but it is getting close enough to take good images with telescopes on the ground. Asteroid enthusiasts from NASA to the White House have been gearing up to watch 1998 QE2 make its closest approach.
"We find something neat about every one that comes in like this," says Tim Spahr of the Minor Planet Center at Harvard University. "They're all different, and it's very cool what you can learn from close approaches."
Initial readings suggest that the main asteroid is 2.7-kilometres wide, and its bright companion is roughly 600 metres across.
Asteroid duos and even trios make up 15 per cent of near-Earth objects larger than200 metres. The discovery of the small moon around 1998 QE2 gives us a rare opportunity to weigh the larger object, and that can tell us what it is made of, says Spahr.

me and photography...

fairies

When I was a little boy I used to read fairy tales. In fairy tales you meet the Fairy Princess and she's everything you ever wanted. In fairy tales the bad girl is very easy to spot. The bad girl is always wearing black lipstick and wierd leather clothes, so you always know who she is. Then you grow up and you realize that Fairy Princess is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad girl is not wearing a black leather clock and she's not easy to spot; she's really sweet, and she makes you laugh, and she has perfect hair... Life... Life my friends is not a movie...

I start to look back and see how much I’ve changed in a year. My priorities have changed, my worries have changed and everything around me has changed. Now I gotta focus in the future because living the present doesn’t cut it anymore. It is not a must that you have all you need, you just need to stay alive and live like everything else is provisional; everything else is literaly provisional...

The cause of death of the former Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs Minister is not yet established.

Meanwhile, shock engulfed the entire country on learning the sudden death ofthe newly elected Makueni Senator.

Messages of condolence started flowing in to the deseased family and close relatives.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi said it was sad that the country had lost a great man and a committed leader especially in reforming Kenya.
“It is with deep sorrow that I have learnt of the untimely death of my friend and former cabinet colleague Senator Mutula Kilonzo of Makueni,”Mudavadi said.

THE TURKANA MENACE

Sixteen-year old Laleti Ngibenyo was forcefully married off to a "suitor" she did not know when she was only 14. Now a mother of one, Ngibenyo is one of a growing number of teenage girls among the Turkana community of North-west Kenya who are forced into marriage by their parents.
Ngibenyo is resigned to her fate - pointing out that her community has practised the tradition since time immemorial. The cattle-keeping Turkana marry off female children some of whom are as young as 12. Many remain with the belief that the tradition is good and "here to stay" but the Kenyan government is taking a very dim view of forced marriages.
A government official in Kalokol town Turkana recently rescued five girls who had been plucked from a classroom to be forcefully married. The official told me that in most cases, the affected school children are primary school children.
"It is unfortunate that while other communities are discarding traditions that drag down their economic growth, the turkana community still embraces the custom of marrying off their children. It is something that should be stopped because it denies the girls child the right to education."
After realising that the Kenyan government was taking stringent measures on parents engaging their children in forced marriages, some members of the community often cross into neighbouring Ethiopia where they perform the marriage rituals before crossing back to Kenya.
The Kenya government has outlawed forced teenage marriages and its perpetrators can be jailed.
What makes teenage marriages especially rooted is that it burdens the young girls with responsibilities that they are not prepared for. This includes child bearing and the hustles of taking care of children.
The culture has been a pull back to the girl child and as a result fewer girls have the urge to continue with their education as they will be married off before they complete their education. The future of girls among the Turkana district remains dimmed unless the culture is done away with.
Educationists warn that early marriages hurt the girls child's chances of economic independence because they are stopped from continuing with their education.
A Catholic Bishop, Policap zhoulius who ministers mainly to the Turkana says the church is trying to discourage the practice among the Turkana so that they do not undermine girls' education.
"Girls have should equal opportunity to education like their male counterparts. Otherwise early marriages among Turkana community only decelerates the community's development", said Bishop Policap adding that the Church had started a girls school in the district.
Having realised that the problem of "teenage marriages" was affecting the girl child education, he has made it compulsory for all the parishes within his diocese to build a school for girls.
Mr. John Karigithe, a social worker who has lived among the community for more than three years says that the community practises the tradition because they are interested in getting wealth. He said that it is difficult to marry a Turkana girl because they demand a large number of cattle as dowry.
Joannes Chacha Marwa who is a youth leader in Turkana district says that the problem is caused by poverty among the community. He argues that because of poverty there is rampant cattle rustling in the area and some parents find it safe to marry off their daughters to compensate for their stolen herd.
He says a lasting solution to the community's problem is to encourage teachers from other parts of the country who do not practice the same traditions be encouraged to teach in Turkana schools, '' because even teachers who are Turkana do not seem to see it as a problem"
